Magic Square

WALT: Extend our maths learning with new games to play.

Today we were given a maths activity called "Magic Square" the aim of the game is to use numbers from 1-12 and adding it up to 24 going diagonally, across and down.

It was quite challenging because there were so many ways to add up to 24 but the strategy I used was to always think ahead, because the number you use has to be suitable for the next equation.

I went back and made sure every question was correct, each question had to equal 24  and I also had a buddy to check after myself.

The numbers "6, 7 and 10" are the numbers that were placed before I started.

Unlucky Vocal Disaster!!!

UNLUCKY VOICE DISASTER!!!

WALT: Write using our 3 main focus which are punctuation, spelling and grammar.

I had to write a story with a scenario given to me and mine was "waking up with no voice, overnight something happened, write about your story"

“LIANA! Come on, we’ve got to go to the Music Awards” says Kayla “Coming”I reply, I look into the mirror, take a deep breath and think,  this is the day, the day I (hopefully) receive the New Zealand College girl Music award. We drive to the event, as I look out the window I see celebrities, families, supporters and my competition, Jakayla Williams, the all time winning music artist, pretty, talented, “ I love her voice” I scream “Liana, what are you talking about?” says Kayla with a confused tone “NOTHING” I reply “ your sister’s acting a bit weird today sweety! She seems quite timid” the mother replies, “No i’m just really excited.” All the girls are lined up waiting for the glory, I see my friends smirk faces in the audience, we all shiver with impatience, the host walks up and says “And the award goes to…. Liana Matthews! Congratulations, how does it feel to win the New Zealand College girls music award?” said the host, “It feels great, I’d like to thank my supporters especially my parents, without them I wouldn’t be where I am right now, Thank you.”

“Wohoo! It’s time to celebrate!” yells Taya, “Congratulations Liana, on behalf of all the girls here tonight we want so say we love you and will support you with your music no matter what” Kayla says “Thank you so much girls, I’m so thankful for this gift, and i’m glad I had the opportunity to participate in the collegiate girls music awards of 2016, Now let’s party!” The girls grab their food and beverages and snuggle up to watch a movie, after the movie we decided we needed more people to hang with.  So I called all the girls that I knew from the competition and invited them over. Jade Lewis, the High Pitch Angel, Chrissy Cullen, the stunning songwriter, Tasha the instrument champion, Tia & Nia Wilson, the strong harmony twin sisters, and Jakayla Williams the former winner of the Music Awards. The girls came over and we had pizza’s delivered, we played some games, had a quick sleep and went out for a stroll to the night carnival. We saw amazing things, we saw people doing cultural performances, Dance crews and best of all FOOD. Tia and Nia brought us hot foods, Jakayla bought the drinks and I got the dessert. We took our food home and fell straight to sleep.

When I woke up I was so hyped for today, my video shoot will be happening and I can meet my musical inspirations. I got up and noticed  Jade, Jakayla and Tasha were gone, they left a note saying they were gone for a walk. So I went to go have a shower, clean up a little and make a nice, healthy breakfast for the girls. I went to go into the room suddenly a snake jumped out of the bed, I SCREAMED AS LOUD AS I COULD, then came to find it was as silent as ever, I tried screaming again and again, Tia, Nia and Chrissy were sound asleep. I pushed and tumbled the girls round and round till they would wake up “LIANA WHAT DO YOU WANT?!?!” yells Chrissy I muck about, twist and turn and they still don’t understand, I run and get a paper and explain to them that I had lost my voice. Jakayla, Tasha and Jade come back and the girls explain to them what had happened. We couldn’t seem to figure out what had happened, My voice never gets lost so easily, I must have swallowed something overnight, neither of the other girls lost their voice though, I’m starting to have second thoughts on who I invited to this sleepover.

I need to get my voice back, I have a video shoot to attend today. I get in my car and drive to the doctors, when I am in the waiting room a couple of young intermediate looking girls come up to me and start complimenting my voice “your voice is so brilliant, I hope someday I can be as good as you” I use actions to thank them and explain how I lost my voice. They understand eventually and ask the receptionist if I could have an appointment, Luckily they had one patient that cancelled their appointment and I could go in, I went in and the doctor said “I’ve had a good check and its seems to be fine, nothing is wrong with you vocals...
